5 easy tips for organizing your kitchen
Struggling to tame your kitchen? Here are some tips for making sure your kitchen looks and feels like a space you will want to spend time in!
Your kitchen is a beautiful place. It's the single location in your home where most of life happens - you prepare food, hang out with family and friends, do homework, and create memories. The list could go on and on!
When you spend this much time in the kitchen, it's essential to have a well-organized space that doesn't look (and feel) cluttered or messy. One major issue that homeowners face regarding organization and tidiness is what to do with all their kitchen utensils.
If you spend any time cooking or baking in the kitchen, you probably have more than a few utensils. Some may come in handy for every meal, while others you may only need once or twice a year. No matter how often you use your kitchen utensils, the knives, pots and pans, and other cooking tools can quickly amass and create quite a bit of clutter.
If you are ready to take back your kitchen with some fast and easy tips for kitchen utensil storage, here are our top 5 strategies to help with kitchen cleanliness!
1. Keep Your Knives Strategically Placed.
Find yourself using a set of kitchen knives often? You'll want to make sure that they are placed in a location where children cannot reach. However, just because they need to be in a safe area doesn't mean that they can't be easy to access by the cook!
When storing your knives, consider how often you use them and whether or not their storage would add to your overall kitchen design. If you have a great kitchen knife storage solution, use that. If not, consider keeping them locked away in a cabinet or pantry area where they are safe and easy to access.
2. A Place For Everything & For Everything A Place!
βA place for everything and for everything a place.β This famous quote is very apt when it comes to storing kitchen utensils.
If you can, try to store the cooking tools that are often used together in one container or drawer - this will help ensure that they remain clean and tidy! If you apply this rule to putting utensils away, you can ensure that everything goes back to where it is supposed to be, rather than allowing clutter to accumulate over time.
3. Hang Often-Used Utensils Near Where You Use Them
Utensils that are used most often should be placed close to the area where they're usually needed.
For example, if you enjoy cooking on your countertop or stovetop, it makes sense for these items (spoons, spatulas) to hang near those areas so that you can grab them quickly as needed with minimal effort!
If you have a plethora of pots and pans, consider keeping them in a place where they are easily accessible! Some people prefer hanging them on hooks or placing them up high, but you will want to make sure that there is enough space for your countertop cooking area.
4. Keep Baking Ingredients In Clear Containers
If you enjoy baking, try to keep your flour, sugar, salt, and other dry ingredients in clear containers on a shelf or nearby countertop so that they're easy for you to locate and grab.
Plus, if you can arrange them nicely, they will make your guests think, "Wow, they must love to bake!"
5. Utilize Vertical Space
If you have a large kitchen, try to use vertical space by hanging pots from hooks on the ceiling to take up less floor and cabinet space. This is an easy way to make your kitchen look bigger!
However, make sure you go easy on hanging utensils in your kitchen. Hanging everything from pots and pans to whisks, spatulas, spoons, tongs, cutting boards can accomplish the opposite of what you've set out to achieve with your clutter-reduction strategy!
